We believe in treating our caregivers – known as Home Care Aides at Guidance Home Care – with respect and understand they are a very critical part of our team. Our team approach results in our clients receiving outstanding care. Guidance employs excellent caregivers that are dedicated to their craft, and our caregivers get the opportunity to work with great clients.
Caregivers are Company Employees
Guidance Home Care caregivers are considered employees of the company, not employees of the client. This ensures that Guidance Home Care is responsible for all payroll taxes, Worker’s comp, liability insurance, and bonding for all caregivers, thus removing this additional stress from the clients and their families.
Screening and Hiring Process
Guidance caregivers go through a very thorough and comprehensive screening and hiring process.
Caregivers must meet the following qualifications:
Pass multiple criminal background checks including DOJ (Department of Justice) background
Pass DMV driving history and monitoring
Pass and have current TB Test
Pass personality and skills assessments by multiple members of the HR and management staff
Have adequate verbal and written communication skills
Training and Certification
Guidance Home Care provides hands-on training led by RNs and other local professionals. Caregivers are also tested for competency and are awarded certifications for:
Alzheimer’s and dementia care
Chronic disease management for congestive heart failure, heart attack, and pneumonia
Personal care and bathing
Injury and illness prevention and safety training in home and work environments
HIPAA (client confidentiality)
Client transfer and body ergonomics
Assistive equipment such as wheelchairs, walkers, hospital beds, etc.
Guidance caregivers also receive one-on-one training from Physical and Occupational Therapists prior to a client’s discharge from a hospital or rehab to help clients transition to life back at home.
